Mary G. (Valcour) Finneran

Mary G. Finneran, 86, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018, at Country Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Newburyport, MA. She was born on February 12, 1932 in Stoneham, MA to the late Henry C. and Gertrude P. (Mallette) Valcour. She was a graduate of Medford High School and Lowell State Teachers College, earning her Master of Education degree from Boston University. Mary was a beloved Elementary School Teacher for many years in the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District until her retirement.

Mary was a treasured mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her time spent with her family. She loved traveling, knitting, playing cards, and doing crossword puzzles. She loved beaches and boating and countless clambakes on the Neck in Ipswich. We will miss her many stories and reminiscences, her calming demeanor, and her signature chocolate chip cookies. She was a member and past Regent of the Daughters of Isabella and a past president of the Newburyport Golden Agers.

Mary is survived by her children Paul Wallace, Jr. of Stratham, NH, and Caroline Meagher and her husband Brian of Cape Neddick, ME; grandchildren, Cori Kippin and her husband Aaron Hill, Samantha Kippin-Fulis and her husband Michael Fulis; great-grandchildren, Alexander and Rockford Hill; siblings, Isabella Butkiewicz, Henry Valcour, Jr. and his wife Margaret, Francis Valcour and his wife Maureen, and Paul Valcour and his wife Patricia; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary was predeceased by Paul Wallace in 2005 and Francis Finneran in 2012.

Family and friends are invited to Mary’s Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Wednesday August 8, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery both in Newburyport. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Finneran’s family with her funeral arrangements.
