Mary Bertolino Obituary

Mary T. Bertolino of Newbury, formerly of Everett and Saugus, passed away on March 22, 2018 at the Anna Jaques Hospital in the presence of her loving family; Joan and Arthur, Deb and David, Susan and Michelle, daughter Kathryn and son-in-law Frank.

The daughter of the late Mary C. (Valleli) Sarro and Joseph W. Sarro of Boston, Mary was retired from the Scotch & Sirloin restaurant in Boston where she was a bookkeeper for many years and formerly an office manager of the Foley Fish Company in Dorchester.  She resided in Newbury the past 14 years with her daughter Kathryn (Mezuk) Kain and son-in-law, Frank Bertolino, III.

Mary enjoyed Bingo with “the girls” at the Newburyport Senior Center as well as her famous road trips to Foxwoods and Mohegun Sun with her husband of 32 years, Paul A. Bertolino, and later with daughter Kathryn (Mezuk) Kain.

Mary, the matriarch of the Sarro family, was most loving known as Auntie Mary to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved and enjoyed many laughs with over the years. She was known as YaYa Mary II by her daughter’s friends and always included as one of the girls. Her smile always brightened up the room and her love of numbers, crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble at camp, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy was well-known. No one loved balancing a check book to the penny more than Mary!

Mary shared 32 years with her husband, Paul A. Bertolino of Saugus, formerly of Gloucester; the love of her life.

Mary is pre-deceased by her husband, Paul A. Bertolino, brothers Joseph Sarro of Everett, Frank Sarro of Brighton, John Sarro of Peabody, and Ralph Sarro of Kingston, MA. Her sister Joan and Arthur Keaney of Middleboro. Loving daughter, Kathryn M. (Mezuk) Kain and Frank Bertolino, III of Newbury, her step-children the late Joanne F. (Bertolino) Yavner of Beverly, the late Diane P. (Bertolino) Vannah of Beverly and Gloucester, Lucille Bertolino of St. Petersburg, FL, A. Paul Bertolino of St. Petersburg, FL.  The light of her days, grandchildren and great grandchildren Christina (Bertolino) Velasquez, husband Tom and family of Amarillo, TX, Frank IV and Amy (Marshall) Bertolino, of Brentwood, NH, Jenna (Bertolino) Noone, husband Barry and family of Salisbury, Jessica Croumie and sons of Exeter, NH, Rebecca (Yavner) Westgate of Cape Cod, Sara (Grinnell) George of Seabrook, NH, Kimberly Yavner and sons of Peabody.
