Marshall R. Bowden, 89, died on Memorial Day, May 28, 2018, surrounded by his family. Born in Marblehead, MA on January 21, 1929, he was the son of the late Thomas Bowden and Charlotte (Edmonds) Bowden. Marshall was raised and educated in Marblehead and later enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the USS Beale during the Korean War.
While serving in Europe, he met his future wife, the late Pauline (LeComber) Bowden, who died February 13, 2004. The couple settled in Danvers, MA, raised a family and were married for 49 years.
Marshall loved Bridgton, Maine and camped every summer with family and friends on Long Lake. Later, he built a Chalet next to Pleasant Mountain where he was an active member of the Pleasant Mountain ski patrol.
He worked as a master electrician for IBEW local 103 until his retirement.
After Pauline’s death, he met his companion, Virginia (Gini) Player of Ipswich, who died January 24, 2017.
Family members include Valerie (Bowden) Ferris and her husband John Ferris of Andover, NH, Scott and Judith Bowden of Newbury, MA, his grandchildren Tuckerman Ferris, Henry Bowden, Anna Bowden and his devoted niece Claire Greensmith of Newburyport, MA.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Bowden’s family with his funeral arrangements.
