Kathleen D. Seidel

Kathleen D. Seidel, 65, a resident of Newburyport died Sunday evening November 3, 2019 at Pilgrim Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Peabody. She was born in Portland, ME on July 7, 1954 to the late Charles and Dorothy (Dawson) Seidel. Raised in Maine, she was a graduate of Deering High School, she then received her bachelors degree from Boston College and continued her education graduating from Boston University with her masters degree in Occupational Therapy, before completing an internship in Colorado.  

Kathy was employed as an Occupational Therapist within the north shore Massachusetts school systems, taking care of children in Haverhill, Lawrence, and Methuen for many years. She later worked in a similar role at Salem Hospital as well.

She enjoyed skiing both downhill and cross country, and spending time in her garden tending to her morning glories. She loved the beach and spending time at her family’s home in Pine Point, ME . She treasured her time with family and her beloved dogs, Muffin, Buttercup, and Kiwi. Kathy was also very active with the Unitarian Universalist Church in Newburyport and the retreat in Ferry Beach, Saco, ME.

Kathy is survived by her husband Russell Seidel of Newburyport; children, Andrew Seidel of Waltham, and Shannon Seidel of Newburyport; sisters, Joan Seidel and her spouse Jan of Boston, Carol Rocchini and her husband Rich of Cranford, NJ, and Nancy Melrose and her husband Dean of Lyndeborough, NH; brother in law, Greg Sarafian of Watertown; as well as several nieces and nephews and many cousins. In addition to her parents Kathy was predeceased by her sister Dottie Jeanne Sarafian.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday November 22, 2019 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY PARKING AVAILABLE BEHIND THE FUNERAL HOME PER ORDER OF THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT. Her Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday November 23, 2019 at the First Religious Society Unitarian Universalist Church on Pleasant St. in Newburyport. Burial will be private at a later date.
