Kathleen M. (Horn) Santo

Kathleen M. (Horn) Santo, age 56, known to many as Dr. Kathleen Horn, passed away peacefully at home on January 22, surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born in Providence, RI to Donald and Janet (Richards) Horn.  She graduated from Stonehill College and New England College of Optometry.  She worked many years as an optometrist at the practice of Dr. Laura Potvin in Groveland, MA and as a clinical investigator at Ora Clinical Inc.  She was previously employed at Appleton Eye Associates and Ciba Corning. 

She is survived by Dr. John Santo, her husband of 27 years, son Joseph of Malden, MA, parents Donald and Janet (Richards) Horn of North Smithfield RI, siblings Patricia (Horn) Ferron and husband Richard of Smithfield, RI, Elizabeth “Betty” (Horn) Saccocia and husband Steve of Norton, MA, James Horn and wife Janice (Campbell) of North Smithfield, RI, sister-in-law Corinne (Santo) Reynolds of Montana, brothers-in-law Vincent Santo and wife Peggy of New York, Stephen Santo and Isolde Lovely of New York and Michael Santo and wife Marie of New Jersey, and many nieces and nephews. 

What mattered most to Kathleen was sharing love and laughter with her family & friends. She was also passionate about donating time through Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) providing eye care to the most needy individuals in underdeveloped countries in Central and South America.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, January 27, from 4-7 at Twomey, LeBlanc & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High Street, Newburyport, MA, 01950.  A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 28 at Holy Family Parish, 11 Sparhawk Street, Amesbury, MA.
