Joyce Ann Boland, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, 86, died Thursday morning August 16, 2018 at her residence in Newburyport, Massachusetts. She was born on September 19, 1931 in Yonkers, New York to the late Ernest and Dorothea (Ruther) Kruppenbacher. She attended school in Yonkers before moving to Lombard, Illinois where she completed High School. She furthered her education graduating from the Latin-American Institute of Chicago where she became fluent in Spanish.
While living in Chicago, Joyce was employed by various companies including AMF Corporation. She later worked in the U.S. Department of State as a secretary in Washington, D.C and was assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Havana, Cuba during 1958, leaving shortly before the embassy closed.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles A. Boland of Newburyport, four children; Nancy Durkee and her husband Carlton of Newburyport, Christopher Boland and his wife Sheryl of Dover, MA, Eileen Brehm of Greenwich, CT, and Daniel Boland of Los Angeles, CA; nine grandchildren she adored; Hannah, Sarah and Lucas Durkee, Kevin, Kathryn, Colin, and Maeve Boland, and Noah and Grayson Brehm, four brothers; Donald, Lawrence, Peter, and Paul Kruppenbacher, a sister; Diane Jackson, as well as many nieces and nephews she all loved so much.
Family and friends may call on Sunday August 19, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the Funeral Home. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday August 20, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery, both in Newburyport.
