James William “Tux” Tuxbury, 84, a resident of Newburyport since kindergarten died Wednesday June 5, 2019 at Country Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Newburyport. He was born on April 1, 1935 in Newburyport to the late Fred and Lois (DeMinico) Tuxbury. He was a graduate of Newburyport High School class of 1953. Upon his graduation Jim was employed at Manson’s Garage before being drafted into the US Army. Following his service to our country he returned to his job where he worked for a few years before opening Jim Tuxbury’s Auto Repair for some 50 plus years. Never retiring only slowing down, Jim would keep family and friends vehicles repaired and running right up to the time of his passing.
In his spare time Jim enjoyed restoring and repairing antique vehicles, watching and attending all forms of car racing from Pine Speedway up to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
James is survived by his loving wife Rosemary (Weeks) Tuxbury of Newburyport. His son, Timothy Tuxbury and his wife Linda of Salisbury, their children, Timothy, Aaron and Gillian, and her children Breta, Wyatt, and Jase. His daughter Terri Tuxbury of Newburyport, and her son Manuel, several nieces and nephews and brother Robert Tuxbury of Newburyport. He was predeceased by his sister Jean York.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 10:00 AM on Friday June 7, 2019 at Sawyer Hill Cemetery in Newburyport. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home is assisting Mr. Tuxbury’s family with his funeral arrangements.
