Newburyport, MA - Sgt. James A. Geekie, Jr., USMC passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 5, 2019. Born in 1938 in Waltham to the late James A. and Barbara (Turner) Geekie. Jim was a long time resident of Newburyport.
Jim was fiercely proud of his years spent in the U.S. Marine Corps, during which he met and married his beloved wife, Sachiko (Oki) Geekie. A man of many skills, Jim's careers included construction, long haul trucking and owning and operating several businesses.

Family hunting and fishing trips to Pittsburg, N.H. and Maine were meticulously planned and thoroughly enjoyed for more than 70 years. Jim was truly at home in the woods and the marsh. Jim could often be seen walking to the Newburyport Public Library, along the Merrimack River and in the Parker River Refuge daily. With a quick wit and keen sense of humor, Jim will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
