Gertrude M. (Melanson) Harward

Gertrude M. (Melanson) Harward, died Monday evening May 29, 2017 at Country Center for Health and Rehab in Newburyport. She was born in Salem, MA to the late Joseph J. and Gertrude C. (Delvin) Melanson. Raised and educated in Salem, Gertrude was a graduate of Salem High School as well as Burdette College in Boston. Prior to her marriage to the late William G. Harward, Gertrude was employed by G. E. in Lynn, MA as an Executive Secretary. She then took on the role of Homemaker. 

Gertrude was a Specialized Volunteer for the American Cancer Society on the State and local level, she also volunteered at the Maritime Museum and the Firehouse Center. She was also a member and past President of the Friends of Salisbury Library.

Gertrude is survived by her cousin William Nicholson of Lynn, and sister in law Marilyn Quinlan of Salisbury.

Services and burial at Longhill Cemetery in Salisbury were private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting with Mrs. Harward’s funeral arrangements
