Eugene “Gene” Edward Bucco, 84, died Monday evening, September 24, 2018, at Seaview Retreat in Rowley. He was born in Moween, Pennsylvania on June 12, 1934 to the late Arthur and Emma (Baroni) Bucco. He was raised and educated in Pennsylvania, graduating from Saltsburg High School. He then received his Bachelors degree from St. Vincent College. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served our country proudly. Upon his honorable discharge, Gene furthered his education by earning an MBA from Golden Gate University.
Gene started his working career in the Banking Industry, followed by several Steel Companies. He moved to Newburyport in 1969 and worked as Comptroller for Towle Silversmiths. He was later employed as CFO for Astra Pharmaceuticals and then worked for Bradford College until his retirement.
He enjoyed playing tennis and working in the yard. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed “Snowbirding” to Anna Maria Island with Credene, his wife of 60 years.
Gene is survived by his loving wife Credene (Davis) Bucco of Groveland; children, Michael Bucco and his partner Joseph Cabral of Ashland, Mark Bucco and his wife Emma Fielding of Knoxville, TN, Chris Ann Bucco and her husband Luis Sturla of Boston, and Patrick Bucco and his wife Kristin of West Newbury; grandchildren, Jackson, Oliver, Aneli, Addie, Silas, and Riley; as well as many nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his siblings, Arthur Bucco and Mimi Santacola. Gene’s family would like to thank the staff at Seaview Retreat for the exceptional care given to him during this difficult time.
Family and friends may call on Friday September 28, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday September 29, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church, followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery both in Newburyport.
