Eleanor J. (Lyons) Murphy

Eleanor J. Murphy, 72, died Wednesday morning November 28, 2018 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. She was born in Dover, NH on February 27, 1946 to the late Thomas and Eleanor June (Taylor) Lyons. Eleanor was raised in Newburyport and attended school in  Newburyport.

Eleanor held several jobs in her lifetime but was primarily an Operator for Verizon, now Fairpoint until her retirement. She was also the Owner/Operator of the Joe-El’s Coffee Shop in Byfield from 1984 until its closing in 1993. Eleanor enjoyed traveling to Florida every year with her husband, and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. She especially loved attending their sporting events.

Eleanor is survived by her husband Joseph Murphy; children, Richard Miller, Jr. and his wife Shellene, Jason Miller and his wife Becky, and Brandy Rock; grandchildren, Tiffany, Zachary, Christopher, Mason, Corey, Ryan, and Halle; siblings, Effie Colby Velardo, Florence Forgione and her husband John and Thomas Lyons; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday December 5, 2018 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the Funeral Home. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday December 6, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church, followed by burial at Belleville Cemetery.
