Dora Fontaine Obituary

Dora (Scioletti) Fontaine, 98, died Saturday afternoon November 16, 2019 at Port Health Care Center in Newburyport. She was born in Canosa Sannita, Italy on October 12, 1921 to the late Aldo and Anna (DiPalma) Scioletti. Dora was raised and educated in Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1953. She then met and married her first husband the late Melchiore Tantaro. The couple settled in Newburyport and worked in their uncles pizza shop, which is now Nick’s Pizza on Merrimac St. They then opened Rosanna’s Restaurant on Jefferson St. and remained open until Mike’s death in 1970.

Dora enjoyed cooking and traveling, especially to her home in Italy. She also loved visiting her daughters and spending time with her grandchildren.

Dora is survived by her daughters, Anna R. Tantaro of FL, and Rosetta Clancy of Fredericksburg, VA; 3 grandchildren, Andrea Dora Smith, Michael McDonald, and Edward McDonald; and 6 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Dora was predeceased by her loving grandson David and her second husband Edward Brion.

Services and burial will be private and have been entrusted to the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950.
