Arthur "Mick" Wood

Arthur “Mick” Wood, 69, a resident of Newburyport died Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at his home. He was born on June 30, 1948, in Beverly, MA to the late Arthur R. and Marie (O’Rourke) Wood. After graduating from Beverly High School,

 Class of 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Arthur proudly served on the USS Mississinewa during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1973. He married his wife Nancy (Lukegord) Wood in 1972, and the family home was in Beverly for several years before settling in Newburyport to raise their family.

Arthur retired from Ipswich Shellfish Company in 2010 after 40 years.  During his retirement he enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe, Alaska, and the Grand Canyon area. When he was not traveling, he enjoyed his time talking to his friends in the neighborhood, and he also loved spending time with his grandchildren.   

Arthur is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Lukegord) Wood, his children Kimberly, wife of Paul Pouliot, and Kelly, wife of Eddie Raposo.   He is the proud grandfather to Phoebe and Karleigh Pouliot, and Kaleb and Kelsey Raposo; along with his step-grandchildren Tyler and Dylan Pouliot, and Janeyse Raposo.  In addition to his parents, Arthur was predeceased by his siblings Brian Wood and Maura Wood.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday February 20, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High Street, Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking is available behind the Funeral Home. His Funeral Service will follow the calling hours in the Funeral Home at 7:00 PM. Burial will be private at a later date.
