Valmond J. Chiasson

Valmond J. Chiasson, 85, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at his residence in Georgetown. Val was born August 17, 1932 on Miscou Island, New Brunswick, Canada where he was raised by the late Martin and Maria (Gauthier) Chiasson. As he grew up, Val worked as a lumberjack and fisherman in Canada before moving to Newburyport where he and his wife of fifty-five years, the late Shirley May (Brown) Chiasson, raised their family and ran their construction company. After retirement, Val enjoyed traveling with Shirley to his birthplace on Miscou Island in the summers and wintering in Sarasota, FL where they enjoyed the beach and sun.

Val and Shirley had four children: Nancy Chiasson (deceased); Kathleen Brown who resides in Clearwater, Fl with her husband, Robert; Lorna Howard who resides in Georgetown with her husband, Tim; and Scott Chiasson who resides in Amesbury with his wife, Alicia. Val and Shirley’s grandchildren are Rachel Mazuch and Melissa Brown of Sarasota, FL, and Atticus Chiasson of Amesbury, and their great grandchildren are Mia, Katelin, Rory, and Alex, all of FL. Val is also survived by his siblings Tony Chiasson and his wife Bunny, Gilles Chiasson and his wife Lorna, Andrea Clark, Madge Reinhart, Laurine Chiasson, Gisselle Peddle, Georgette Lauzon and her husband Yvon, and Bernard Bizeau, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking is available behind the Funeral Home. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery, both in Newburyport.
