Raymond Bardsley Obituary

Raymond Bardsley passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA.

Ray was born March 30, 1946, in Lawrence, MA and was raised in Methuen, MA where he resided until early adulthood. He attended Tenney High School, Methuen, MA, (Class of 1964) and Franklin Institute of Technology, Boston, MA. Ray was an employee of Mass Electric for many years before transitioning to the Seabrook Power Plant where he retired in 2002.

He served proudly in the United States Air Force as a Sargent and was a Maintenance Specialist during the Vietnam War. Besides the deep love for his family he had profound love for his country and his fellow veterans. Ray also became a faithful member of the Catholic Church last year in a beautiful celebration in Newburyport, MA.

Ray was active in the community as a coach and devoted mentor to many youth. He was very involved in Triton Youth Hockey for many years as well. Ray also served the community as a member of the Newbury-Rowley Lions Club. He loved his children above all else and adored spending time with his grandchildren. He had a very kind heart and quick wit, with all his Ray-isms, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is remembered with love by his wife, Penny Bardsley (Kelley/Foley) of Byfield, MA; his children, Vicky Nixon (Bardsley) and husband, Jerry of Spring Lake Heights, NJ, Aaron Bardsley of Amesbury, MA, Julie Philbin (Foley) and husband, Jay of Newbury, MA, Jessica Stack (Foley) and husband, Matthew of Kittery, ME, Elizabeth Sforza (Foley) and husband, Anthony of Byfield, MA, Theresa Brisson (Foley) and wife, Tara of Tilton, NH; six grand-children, David and Makenzie Foley, Addison and Reagan Sforza and Katy and Elly Nixon. His sisters, Patricia Beckwith (Bardsley) and husband David of West Newbury, MA and Nancy Shaheen (Bardsley) and husband William of Andover, MA along with several nieces and nephews, and numerous family and friends.

He is predeceased by his first wife Selma Bardsley (Abesamra) and his parents, Marjorie Bardsley (Coleman) and Howard Bardsley of Methuen MA.
