Patricia Eleanor O'Hara

Patricia Eleanor O'Hara passed away at her home on May 16, 2017. "Pat," as she was known to family and friends was born in Neptune, NJ, but lived most of her early life in Trenton, NJ. She graduated from Villa Victoria Academy, then studied nursing at Columbia University from which she received her BSN. During her career, Pat worked as a registered nurse in a variety of settings including private practice, a hospital, a school, and later in private duty. 

Pat loved her time in "The Big Apple." From the Village, to Broadway, Central Park to the Museums, she enjoyed it all. A true "Jersey Girl," Pat loved nothing more than cruising to the "Bluffs" in Bay Head with Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band blaring on the radio. After a day of sun and surf, she loved dining with friends. She lived by the water in Connecticut and Massachusetts and loved her time on the beaches and by the crackling fireplaces in New England. 

Always gracious, Pat impressed on her children, Andrew Vecchio married to Katherine Walton Vecchio and Cara Vecchio married to Scott J. Cummings, the importance of remembering one's manners, bringing hostess gifts & sending thank you notes. Pat was happiest when spending time with her four beloved grandchildren: Joshua & Christopher Vecchio and Claudia & Brandon Cummings. 

A lifelong animal lover, Pat spent several months gaining the trust of a feral kitten, "Tux." Tux moved with Pat to Newburyport from New Jersey and survives her. 

In addition to her children, Pat is survived by her sister Sheila O' Hara Koenig and her brother- in-law Jerry, her three nieces Kimberly and Melissa Koenig, and Heather Steager married to Pete Steager and their daughter Hope, and her nephew Michael Koenig married to Anna Cummings. She was predeceased by her brother Edward J O'Hara. Pat was loved them all dearly and treasured the moments they shared together. 

Proud of her Irish heritage, Pat loved the "Irish Blessing." We wish for her that the road has risen to meet her and God is holding her in the hollow of his hand. 

Family and friends may call from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday May 20, 2017 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the Funeral Home. A time of remembrance will be held immediately following the calling hours in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private at a later date.
