Patricia A. "Mopsie" (Curran) Messinger

Patricia A. “Mopsie” Messinger, 97, died Thursday October 26, 2017 at Country Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Newburyport. She was born on July 13, 1920 in Upper Saranac Lake, NY to the late Patrick and Carolyn (Leonard) Curran. At the age of 13 her family moved to Newburyport where she was raised and educated, graduating from Newburyport High School Class of 1939. In 1944 she married the late William E. Messinger and the couple raised their family in Newburyport.

Patricia was employed for many years as an administrator for the Griffin House in Newburyport until her retirement. Home and family was very important to Patricia, a gift she passed along to her children. Her home was often the gathering place for family celebrations.  Later on in life Patricia enjoyed participating in "Van Trips" with friends in the Newburyport area.

Patricia is survived by her daughters, Pamela Giovannini and her husband Peter of Scituate, and Susan Stachowske and her husband Bruno of Newburyport, grandchildren, Victoria and John Fiorante, Stacy and Thomas Mueller, James and Katharine Clifford, Beth and Shawn DeMello, Benjamin and Kathleen Giovannini and Matthew and Jocelyn Stachowske, great grandchildren, Ella, Alex, Abbie, Micah, Kaelyn, Monica, Tyler, Emmett, Sierra, Charlotte, Eliza and one more blossom in spring, as well as sister, Barbara Braunstein and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband William, she was predeceased by her siblings Donald Curran, Betty Doyle, June Cayer, Michael Curran and Stephen Curran.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday November 1, 2017  from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the Funeral Home. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday November 2, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport. Family has asked that if you would like to join them for Mass please go directly to the Church. Burial will follow at Oakhill Cemetery in Newburyport.
