Natalie Hobson Obituary

Natalie Helene Hobson, 93, died peacefully on March 25, 2017 at her residence in Newburyport. She was born on April 9, 1923 in West Newbury, MA to the late Forrest and Edith (MacDonald) Short. Natalie was raised and educated in West Newbury and was a graduate of West Newbury High School.  Natalie met and married the late Frank E. Hobson, Jr. The couple resided in many places including Portland, ME, Albany, NY before returning to West Newbury. 

Natalie was employed as a secretary for the State of New York for many years.  She then worked for the Essex County Gas Company in Amesbury until her retirement. In her retirement years she enjoyed singing, and was a 20 year member of the Newburyport Choral Society. She also enjoyed gardening, and reading her Wall Street Journal from front to back. She also enjoyed painting and she attended several courses to help perfect her craft.

Natalie is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Van Patten of Voorheesville, NY; Valerie Buttler and her husband Ron of Aiken, SC; Michele Regan and her husband Michael of Sanbornton, NH; and Hilary Skovron of Exeter, NH; grandchildren, Jennifer Buttler, Jessica Skovron-Rasheed, Elissa Skovron, and Patrick Regan, as well as 2 great-grandchildren. 

At the request of Mrs. Hobson’s family services and burial will be private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting with her funeral arrangements.
