Mark Edward O'Brien

Mark Edward O’Brien passed away at Anna Jacques Hospital on March 9, 2018.

Mark was born on January 5, 1947 in Newburyport to the late Mary E. O’Brien and William J. O’Brien Jr. He graduated from Governor Dummer Academy and received degrees from the College of the Holy Cross and Suffolk Law School. Growing up, he worked at his family’s furniture store, O’Brien Furniture, and enjoyed spending time at Hampton Beach. 

A lifelong resident of Newburyport, he was a proud member of the Newburyport Rotary Club and a former City Solicitor. He worked as an attorney for many years, as well as in real estate. 

Mark was a devoted Holy Cross Crusaders fan. He loved keeping up with the teams and attending sporting events on campus. Known for his great sense of humor and generous spirit, Mark cherished his time with family and friends and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his three children, Conor, Trevor and Kerry, his brother and sister-in-law Bill and Susan O’Brien, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday March 14, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the Funeral Home. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday March 15, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery, both in Newburyport.
