Mabel (O'Brien) Kalashian

Mabel Kalashian, 66, passed away suddenly on Friday May 19, 2017 surrounded by family and friends at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. 

Mabel was born on January 18, 1951 in Lynn, MA to the late Daniel and Claire (Callahan) O'Brien. Mabel moved to Plum Island in the seventh grade and attended the Immaculate Conception School. She was a proud member of Newburyport High School’s Class of 1968! Afterwards she attended Salem Nursing School for three years becoming a Registered Nurse. Mabel served as a nurse in a variety of settings from Salem, MA to Aspen, CO and ending her career with her furthest commute to Anna Jacques Hospital where she worked for 31 years. 

Mabel enjoyed spending her time at Salisbury Beach in the summers, riding the waves. She was always up for a good time and enjoyed every opportunity presented to her. Mabel was a lover of life who appreciated mostly spending time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. 

Mabel was predeceased by her husband Harry Kalashian, of Newburyport, whom she loved dearly. Mabel leaves behind her two beloved daughters Annie Kalashian and Debbie Kalashian both of Newburyport, by brothers Dan O'Brien and his wife Nancy of East Falmouth, Michael O'Brien and his wife Lisa of Haverhill, NH, the late Billy O’Brien and his wife Roni of Kennebunk, ME, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday May 23, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home located at 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the Funeral Home. Mabel’s funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday May 24th at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church followed by the burial at St. Mary's Cemetery both in Newburyport.
