Barbara Ruth (Edwards) Morrison

Barbara Ruth (Edwards) Morrison, 67, of Newburyport, MA passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 2, 2018. Born on September 11, 1950 in Boston, MA, the daughter of Wallace H. and Alice W. Edwards, she grew up in Norwood, MA and graduated from Norwood High School in 1968.  After graduating from Framingham Union School of Nursing in 1971, she began a life-long career of caring for others.

Barbara resided in Newburyport, MA with her life partner, Andrew Brisbane. She is survived by her sister Gail Davis of Cotuit, MA, daughter Kimberly Sussman of Franklin, MA, step-daughter Kim Legelis of Sherborn MA, step-daughter Kate Bauer, niece Samantha Davis and nephew Andrew Davis. Barbara also left behind adoring grandchildren Madison Bergeron, Cynthia Legelis, J.J. Legelis, Harry and Ada Bauer.

Barbara’s career was a significant part of her life. She enjoyed being a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery for over 46 years. She devoted the last 39 years working and caring for mothers and babies at Newton Wellesley Hospital.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as cooking, gardening, shopping, skiing and vacationing near Lake Elmore, Vermont. Barbara loved the natural beauty of Newburyport, taking rides out to Plum Island and Newburyport State Park beach.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10am, Saturday, March 10th at First Religious Society, Unitarian Church, 26 Pleasant Street in Newburyport, MA
